Visions of Zimbabwe Safari
Day 1: Welcome to Victoria Falls
We’ll meet you on arrival and chauffeur you to the luxurious Victoria Falls Hotel, a century-old Edwardian landmark with a view of the historic Victoria Falls Bridge and the billowing spray of “The Smoke that Thunders.” A sunset cruise aboard our intimate Victorian-style cruiser features cocktails and light snacks. Take in the tropical scenery as elephant and other African game descend to the hippo and crocodile-filled Zambezi River for their own version of the traditional Sundowner cocktail.
Day 2: Victoria Falls
Set out with your personal safari guide and explore the trails along the edge of the Falls. Exotic birds are abundant and you’ll hit all the prime vantage points; with fitting names like Danger Point and Knife Edge Bridge, they capture the breathtaking thrill of the Zambezi River as it cascades 300 feet over this mile-wide gorge. Day 3: Deep into the borders ofHwange National Park
As dense forests give way to more open landscapes, your safari transfer flight deep into the boundaries of Hwange National Park offers a chance to observe roaming wildlife from above. Our destination is the ultra-private Little Makalolo Camp deep in the heart of Hwange’s best wildlife-viewing area. Your first day includes morning + afternoon game drives and a night safari with spotlight to track predators like the spotted hyena, leopard, lion and honey badger. Meals B,L,D
Day 4: Hwange National Park
Founded 80 years ago and heralded for one of the densest concentrations of game in Africa, Hwange offers a superb safari experience. Led by our certified naturalist, you’ll enjoy two full days of game drives, night safaris and guided walks that allow for unsurpassed immersion in the wild and a chance to see buffalo, herds of elephants, giraffe, wildebeest, impala, sable, zebra, reedbuck, mongoose, and more than 400 species of birds. Day 5: Another Day in Hwange
Hwange National Park is the largest wildlife reserve in Zimbabwe and our intimate camp lies in the heart of one of the Park’s best game-viewing areas. Accompanied by our expert safari guides, you’ll enjoy another full day of wildlife adventures. The terrain, vegetation and habitats surrounding Little Makalolo are uniquely varied and along with countless waterholes, these conditions ensure thrilling game drives and a chance to observe diverse species. Walking safaris offer another perspective while evening drives reveal nocturnal creatures including mongoose, spotted hyena and the surprisingly fierce honey badger. Returning to camp between the day’s guided adventures offers a chance to take a refreshing dip in the plunge pool or to look for animals that come to the nearby waterhole. Congenial dining, Sundowner Cocktails and convivial evening fireside gatherings complete your safari experience here in Hwange! Meals B+L+D
Day 6: To Mana Pools National Park
Take off into the blue African skies, sweeping low over isolated game-rich terrain to a remote broad-flowing stretch of the Zambezi River. Here with mountain views of the rugged Rift Valley escarpment, the luxurious Rukomechi Camp offers 10 spacious tents set under shady broad-canopied ana trees overlooking the river. You’ll arrive in time for lunch and an afternoon game drive. Meals B,L,D
Day 7: On Safari at Mana Pools
Here at Mana Pools National Park, the Zambezi River widens to form the pristine waterways of this amazing natural wonder – recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site for its remarkable concentration of wildlife. From the comfort of our luxuy wilderness camp, set on a private concession in the heart of the park, you’re perfectly situated to join our expert safari guides on a thrilling variety of wildlife-viewing activities. Day and night game drives, nature walks, and river expeditions offer unique ways to track and observe the animals that roam across our private concession and the National Park. Meals B+L+D
Day 8: Another Day with our Expert Guides
The year-round water supply provided by the Mana Pools plus the protein-rich pods of the plentiful acacia tree make the area irresistible to all types of game and birds. The wildlife here is indeed unmatched with large numbers of buffalo and elephants gathering at water’s edge. Kudu, zebra, impala and waterbuck graze the surrounding plains with fierce predators like lion, wild dog and lepoard lurking nearby. Hippos wallow in the pools and the calls of woodland and riverine birds fill the air. The majestic African fish-eagle is regularly spotted soaring in the skies above. With our expert safari guides leading the way, you’ll thrill to another day of game-viewing expeditions by land and water. Meals B+L+D
Day 9: Depart Zimbabwe
